The other day, I took a photo for socials, business on top, fluffy slippers on the bottom. It was cute. But it also hit me: fluffy slippers and couch time have taught me a lot about business growth.
When we’re constantly moving, it’s easy to default to surface-level problem solving. In big organisations, I hear the same issues again and again: “We need more resources.” “Leadership isn’t strong enough.” Small business owners are similar regarding grants funding “If we can just get some money in, we will get through another quarter”.
But when we actually stop, when we give ourselves space to think, something deeper is revealed. It’s not just about what people are doing or saying. It’s about how they’re thinking and feeling.
Because here’s the thing:
Thinking drives feeling.
Feeling drives action.
And action is what drives results.
I see it in culture transformation. And I see it with the business owners I work with. They think more money will fix everything. But without clarity, structure, and a strategy? More money just amplifies the mess.
This is why I keep coming back to the power of better questions. Not: “Why isn’t this working?” But: “What’s the real problem we’re trying to solve?”
When we take a breath (or a bath), when we pull on the slippers and sit with our business, not to hustle, but to listen, that’s where the gold is.
That’s where strategy lives. That’s where sustainable growth begins.
So yes, this is a fluffy slipper appreciation post. But it’s also a reminder: real growth starts behind the scenes. In strategy. In structure. In stillness.
